I must have at least twenty significant things on the to-do list for bimbogami, but I haven’t managed to do get round to completing any of them in the last 2 months or so.
There is actually a number of good reasons to get the proverbial finger out and get some stuff done: Evidence the fact that new registrations have all but dried up, and only a handful of persistent puzzle heroes are still slogging their way through the puzzles. How will I ever make my million from internet puzzling if google-ads are not being clicked and searches done?
I always seem to be able to find something that manages to keep me from getting to a proper end of a single one of these tasks. I’ve been suffering badly from “butterfly syndrome”, and me allegedly a completer-finisher too, sheesh.
Perhaps, in an effort to spur me into action, I should publish the to-do list as, “What’s coming next on bimbogami”, and then refer back to it in future posts as I gradually tick them off the list. OK, I’ve talked myself into it, so here goes:
What’s coming next on bimbogami
1. Season 3
More of the same from the sensei – this time it’s personal.
There are a number of puzzles that didn’t make the final cut for season1/2, a few new ones devised since then and a good number of ideas for other questions kicking about.
2. Musigami
An inovative new style of music puzzle, ooh it’s exciting.
Still the normal bimbogami format: 5 rounds x 8 question per round. But this time with a musical slant to it; the sensei likes his music.
3. Puzzler tools
A number of ‘helper’ tools for players of bimbogami (and others). No login required, just use as required. Already lined up (ie. working but need polished) are:
- The Sensei’s Caesar Solver: Create and solve ceasar cipher type puzzles.
- The Sensei’s Scrabble Solver: Got 8 letters? Got a blank? Here you go!
- Nonogram Generator: Like the sensei’s nonograms? Make your own!
- Random word generator: Need words? How many? Here you go!
- Is this a word?: Not sure? Check here!
4. Layout and style
The usual layout and style tweaking spiral of doom.
At least this time I don’t have to change the entire structure of the site (well not totally).
To include the new logo, new menu style and other seemingly trivial, but extremely infuriating CSS-related stuff. This is where hours can be lost fixing the tiniest of layout changes only to find it’s hugely different in other browsers.
5. Code tidy up (HTML/CSS/ASP)
Again, a time-sponge. Sometimes for efficiency, sometimes because there is a better way of doing it, always a zone where minutes become hours.
